Admin The Keweenaw Junior Ranger Activity Books are FREE at National Park Service right now — no catch on the price, just claim it while the offer lasts.
What you’re getting: Two books to choose from by age: Junior Ranger for ages 7 and up, Explorer for ages 4 to 6; Mailed free to your home anywhere in the US; Finished books can be sent back to the park to earn the official Junior Ranger badge. This is an ongoing park program, but request your copy sooner rather than later — program details can change. If you want it, claim it now rather than bookmarking it for later.
How to claim
- Open the Keweenaw Junior Ranger page on nps.gov (link below).
- Pick the book that fits your child: the Junior Ranger book for ages 7 and up, or the Explorer book for ages 4 to 6.
- Use the park’s contact form to request a copy by mail, and include which book you want plus your mailing address.
- Watch the mailbox. When the activities are done, send the finished book back to the park in person, by mail, or as emailed photos to earn the official Junior Ranger badge.
Freebie verified
We checked the park’s page ourselves and the book request channel was live and accepting requests as of 2026-10-27T07:20:12Z (UTC). Freebie offers can end early if stock runs out, so don’t sit on it.
Pros and cons
- Pro: Completely free, mailed to your door
- Pro: A real National Park Service activity book, not a printable worksheet
- Pro: Finished books earn an official Junior Ranger badge
- Con: Mail delivery takes time, so this is not instant
- Con: You have to request it; the book does not arrive automatically
Fine print: shipping terms and eligibility are set by National Park Service, so give the offer page a quick read before you claim. Freebie availability changes fast — if the form is down, the offer has ended.
